Plenty of haw and holly berries in the Quantocks provided a banquet for masses of fieldfares...

and redwings...

They were attracting predators too - one merlin and one sparrowhawk had a go in the 15 minutes I watched. But between them the two raptors didn't flush as many thrushes as the pesky mountain bikers.10 November 2007 - Greylake
This glossy ibis (a species which breeds in Mediterranean marshes and winters in Africa) provided superb close views...


At one point it got so close, the birder next to me remarked 'this is taking the p*ss, isn't it?'


I wonder what glossy ibises eat?
