Shifting Sands Beyond the Sea

Ephemeral waters leave their footprints

upon the eternal shore –

the final outpost of the land.

And man looks for patterns

in Nature’s chaos.

There he sees his life,

or so it seems, amid the serpent-like traces,

following their altered state –

their course back to sea.

Here and there, an avian observer

catches a glimpse of his thoughts –

the last remaining friend of green.

He wonders how long it

lasts in time again.

Allegiance is there,

time, the destroyer and healer, creates a space

for the man, who is not beyond

its call or its song.

Once again, the battlements of man

are crumbling,

yet the spirit lives on,

asking only to be recognised

and known again.
